Dia de Oakwood- Free screening of Disney’s Coco (event)

The Museum is one of several community partners in Dia de Oakwood. Dia de Oakwood was born as a collaboration between organizers of the Day of the Dead 5K Angela Salamanca and Natalia Campbell, Oakwood Cemetery director Robin Simonton, and artist Peter Marin. Kristin Smith, manager of school programs, collaborated with Marin to develop curriculum and provide materials for artist residencies.

Dia de Oakwood, was born as a collaboration between the organizers of the Day of the Dead 5k; Angela Salamanca, Natalia Campbell, the Oakwood Cemetery Director, Robin Simonton, and Artist Peter Marin. The intention with this event is to create an installation that celebrates all the traditional aspects of the Day of the Dead holiday, as well as create a new display for the community collaboration.

Disney’s Coco is back by popular demand! We will be screening the movie on the second night of Día de Oakwood. Families, friends and community are welcome to join us and enjoy the movie, screened outdoors at the installation site. There will also be musical performances and local food trucks.
