Ready-to-go resources are short, flexible learning activities that center art as texts. The activities are presented in google slide decks with teaching notes to make classroom implementation easy. More Ready-to-Go Resource Series will be added soon.
Compare and Connect Series
In “Compare and Connect” students use a guiding question to compare works of art within the context of a shared theme and produce brief writing examples.
Seeing Clearly for High School
In “Seeing Clearly” students work in a small group to deepen their background knowledge on the context for an artwork. The series culminates with a Socratic Seminar where students apply their knowledge to consider the artist’s purpose as well as reflect on how developing historical context and empathy can impact their interpretation of a piece of artwork.
“What are they Saying” for High School
This resource is designed for small group or independent work and should be self-managed by high school students. Teens research the subject of a painting or object to develop a “character” point-of-view voiced in a meme.
Art Talk for High School
“Art Talk” is designed for whole class, small group, or independent work. Students generate words to make direct connections to works of art by generating relevant vocabulary. They can work through a variety of artworks over time.
