Live from the Conservation Lab: The Science behind Bacchus (event)

Learn about the art and science behind the Bacchus Conservation Project in this virtual field trip. Bacchus is an ancient Roman sculpture at the NCMA, and he was the ancient Roman god of agriculture.

Our curator highlights new discoveries about Bacchus and introduces a virtual field trip experience, “Artist Scientist,” for grades 3–5. This new virtual field trip provides students the opportunity to learn what conservation is and to practice scientific inquiry by investigating a work of art and using visual evidence to make meaning. Our introduction will be followed by a Q&A.
