Join us for a morning workshop on “How to Draw the Face” at NCMA Winston-Salem. Stephen Lursen, a middle school art educator showcased in the NCMA’s Creative Lives of Educators exhibition, will lead this program. Stephen will guide artists through the process of drawing the face step-by-step, while also explaining how he teaches this to middle school students within the framework of an Observational Drawing Unit, culminating in a student self-portrait project. You don’t have to be a teacher to attend, though visual art educators will gain access to the entire unit as a resource, with lessons laid out chronologically and growing in difficulty, leading students to learn the necessary skills to go from zero to completing a self-portrait project.
