Teacher Workshop: Connecting with Contemporary Art (in collaboration with Art21) (event)

How can we deconstruct the art of our time through concepts and big ideas? In collaboration with Art21, this workshop investigates the work of contemporary artists featured in the NCMA’s collection and Art21 films to make connections between art and the world around us. We’ll use easy-to-adapt strategies to discuss contemporary art in a broad range of media, including the work of Ursula von Rydinsgvard, Leonardo Drew, Graciela Iturbide, and William Kentridge. Then, we’ll engage in materials exploration to connect with ideas explored in their art. Open to educators from all grade levels and subject areas. Educators can earn .5 CEU with approval from their local school system.
