Virtual Slow Art Appreciation (event)

Slow art is a growing movement to mindfully observe and appreciate art. This live virtual program guides you through centering techniques and a breathing practice followed by an intentional observation of City in the Grass by Leonardo Drew.

Sharing and discussion are encouraged! This is a great practice to calm the mind and experience art in a deeper way. For ages 16 and up.

The program is free, but space is limited; reserve your spot by emailing Bryanne Senor at Bryanne.Senor@ncdcr.gov.

How to prepare for this program:

  • You are welcome to participate as much or as little you like. Though discussion and social interaction are main intentions of this program, it is fine if you prefer to have your mic and video turned off throughout. Please also be considerate of your fellow participants.
  • Choose a quiet space with minimal distractions. Feel free to create as comfortable and calming of an area as you like: Sit in a supportive chair, dim the lights, or light a candle.
While you can use a smartphone to join, for an optimal experience we recommend using a desktop, laptop, or tablet so that you can see slides and meeting tools on a larger screen.
  • Log on a few minutes early to get familiar with the view options, chat box, and other functions.
  • We’ll call on and identify participants by whatever name appears on their Zoom account.
  • Use headphones and microphone for best sound quality, and silence alerts from nearby devices.
