view artistThe Hickory Museum of Art’s Grand Vision exhibition of the work of North Carolina artist Elliott Daingerfield is the inspiration for this workshop. Participants explore the exhibition through inquiry-based discussion strategies and then experiment with expressive painting techniques inspired by nature with Hickory artist Steve Brooks. Participants may bring reference photographs of trees or use one provided by the artist. Educators develop strategies to connect art and science that can be applied to classroom use. This workshop models strategies addressing standards in English Language Arts, Visual Art, Social Studies, and Science and is open to educators from all grade levels and subject areas. Participants will receive a certificate of participation for 5 hours (.5 CEU. with approval from your local school system). Teachers may want to combine this with our online Art and Science mini-courses for an additional 1.5 CEU credits.
