Stacy Lynn Waddell is a mixed media artist. Waddell was born in 1966 in Washington, D.C. She received her undergraduate degree from the School of Design, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, in 1993, before pursuing her MFA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which she completed in 2007. Since graduating, her art career has been on the rise. She was chosen as a finalist for the Factor Prize for Southern Art in 2008, and was selected as a 2010 recipient for the Joan Mitchell Painters and Sculptors Grant. In 2009, she was also accepted as a resident artist for the Project Row Houses Residency, Houston. In 2010, Waddell was commissioned by the NCMA to create a “billboard” for our ongoing project, Park Pictures, as part of our series Art Has No Boundaries, to encourage visitors to actively explore the Museum Park.
