Lien Truong (artist)

Lien Truong uses textiles, painting, and installation to investigate belief systems as they relate to notions of family, religion, and popular icons. Bridging the lines between past and present, Truong manipulates her materials to adapt to the social story she is telling. Born in Saigon, Vietnam, she graduated with her MFA from Mills College in 2001 and with a B.A. from Humboldt State University in 1999. As a foreign-born individual living in the USA, Truong straddles two starkly different worlds and cultures.
