Art and Animals Virtual Field Trip in Action

A museum educator offers multiple choice images for students to communicate their observations of a painting.

The North Carolina Museum of Art welcomes students with disabilities and diverse learning needs to participate in our virtual field trip programs.  In addition to the following programs, captioning, ASL interpretation, and audio description are available upon request.

Exploring Movement in Art

In this Virtual Field Trip, designed for students ages 8–16 who are blind or visually impaired, students will explore two works of art from the Museum’s permanent collection that show movement in different ways. At each artwork stop, students will listen to an audio description, consider the work’s kinetic and multisensory qualities, and discuss how the artist uses movement.

In each of these separate Virtual Field Trip programs, designed for students following the extended curriculum, students look carefully at works of art from the Museum’s permanent collection.  Multisensory experiences, multiple choice questions, and board-maker style images allow students to interact with the museum educator, their teachers, and the works of art. Choose one topic below or we can create a custom program for your class.
