Online Course: Exploring Global Learning through Art (event)

Lalla Essaydi, Silence of Thought #2

This self-paced online course uses works of art from the museum’s collection as a pathway to understanding global issues and developing cross-cultural understanding. The goal of this course is to help you, and eventually your students, explore global issues through inquiry-driven, art-based practices. The course will help you make connections to your content areas, identify your own global practice, and provide strategies to help students investigate the world, recognize perspectives, communicate ideas, and take action.

En este curso interactivo, usted:

  • Conocer los problemas y acontecimientos mundiales y desarrollar la conciencia de su interconexión
  • Profundizar en el conocimiento de su propio bagaje cultural e identidad
  • Develop an appreciation of others’ perspectives or worldviews with respect towards diversity and difference
  • Aprender habilidades para ayudar a los estudiantes a pasar a la acción
  • Apply digital and hands on strategies that challenge students to create, think critically and communicate their ideas
  • Establezca conexiones con su plan de estudios y conozca las conexiones que sus colegas establecen con el suyo.

This course is designed for educators of all disciplines and audiences interested in integrating art and global issues into their teaching. Course activities model a variety of strategies and skills that support the K-8 North Carolina Visual Arts Essential Standards as well as the Digital Learning Competencies for Classroom Teachers. Participants should expect to spend up to 10 hours on course activities for which a certificate of participation for 10 hours will be provided (1 CEU in Art or Digital Learning, with approval from the local school system).
